Coming back to biking

Coming back to biking

Hi guys,

So I’ve been looking at jumping back on the saddle after a few years away. My last bike was a little 125 CBR that I actually loved but was stolen, with a baby on the way I decided to get a car but the fuel costs and traffic is killing me. I know a couple of changes have been made to the licences now which I’ve read up on, so I need to renew my learners permit which will be my 3rd and apply for a test I think I’ll have an A2 licence which will allow me a bike up to 33kw?

So that opens a few new one’s from before (I think) 250 Hornet , 250 Ninja , 250 Commet should all be legal for me now yes?

I know that 600cc is required for the test. The bike will mainly be for commuting so here’s my pickle , I’m pretty lightweight 5’8 , 10.5 stone or something so bigger bikes I found harder to handle I liked the 250 Virago I had (But was a nightmare for breaking down) and loved the little CBR for filtering through town ,I do like the ride on a cruiser though and I want to keep the fuel costs down so a 250 would suite me maybe a 400.

Very unsure what to go for now though , It would be a bit silly not to do my full test on a 600cc but I don’t like the idea of renting a bike on the day of the test that I haven’t ridden or wouldn’t be used to.

I also have to get around my girlfriend , ever since my son was born she’s very very against bikes and me riding one which I understand from her point of view but I’m not a complete novice I’ve been driving 10 years and had a bike for 4 of those years with only one fall (We all have one right lol)
