REIGNING world champion Marc Marquez took victory in the German MotoGP after dominating the race from early on.
Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo got ahead early but Marquez, who had started from pole position, soon slipped past to take the lead.
Marquez then built on his lead while Lorenzo fought for position with team-mate Valentino Rossi.
Marquez’s Respol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa also managed to pass the Yamahas to take second place in yesterday’s race at the Sachsenring circuit.
Marquez’s win puts him fourth in the championship standings.
Rossi finished third and remains at the top of the standings. Lorenzo took fourth place and is second in the standings, 13 points behind Rossi.
Brits Bradley Smith and Cal Crutchlow finished sixth and seventh, riding for Monster Yamaha Tech 3 and CWM LCR Honda respectively.
Fellow Brit Scott Redding crashed his Marc VDS Honda on lap one.
It was the sixth time in a row that Marquez has won at the Sachsenring. The Spaniard said: ‘From the beginning I felt good and when I had the gap I just tried to manage it. I’m happy because this weekend we’ve been always first and it has been a long time since I had that. It’s a good result to go on holidays with, but I want to keep getting better.’
