I have a few queries about getting started riding,

I am 38, recently just got my Learner permit (didn’t have to do theory test thankfully)

Will be looking at starting training in the new year and I have a few queries,

1)Can you ride a bike on a learner permit now before you have started your training, I can’t find anywhere that says one way or the other,

2)I have a permit for Cat A bikes due to my age (finally something working in my favour!)

Is there anywhere you can find a good explanation of what bikes fit this category?

I used to ride my brothers bike years ago but only around village at home so I have a little bit of experience but looking forward to getting the proper training,

Bike wise, I prefer sports bikes to the more upright cruisers.

Few guys I spoke to recommended a CBR600 as they are a good bike with enough power to keep your interest, I would only be using the bike the odd good weekend and the very odd day I might take it to work (60 Mile round trip).

Just curious to see what you folks recommend
