I’m moving into a new place next week with a proper man cave and I’ve decided to put a second bike in there beside the Hayabusa…

What I want is something that I can commute on and occasionally take green laning…
Lots of forestry around here I’d like to explore…
The commute is around 12 miles, 5 of which is motorway – the motorway can be avoided but would add 10 minutes to the journey…

Budget is gonna be around €1,500 – might be able to stretch a few hundred more for the right bike…

I’m not interested in Transalps or ATs – a big single is the preference…

Anything would be a compromise…

Something like a DRZ400 would be better for off-road, an XT660 would be better for the commute…

What do you guys recommend, I know fook all about these kinds of bikes…
It must be something reliable – had a Husky 610SM a few years back, great fun but a headwrecking fuck of a thing – only started when it felt like it…
